What is Gatorade, and who makes it?

Gatorade is the original sports drink, made by PepsiCo. It was created in 1965 at the University of Florida to replace the fluid, carbohydrates and electrolytes lost through sweat. Its blend of carbohydrates with electrolytes like sodium and potassium is a familiar name on job sites everywhere, and Hydration Depot carries it in bulk formats sized for crews.

Does Gatorade come in a sugar-free version?

Yes. Gatorade Zero has no sugar and the same electrolytes as Gatorade Thirst Quencher. It comes as single-serve powder sticks made for 20 oz bottles, in bulk 960 stick packs by flavor, and as 20 oz ready-to-drink bottles by the pallet. G2, the lower calorie line, is also available in 20 oz bottles.

What forms does Gatorade come in at Hydration Depot?

Nearly every format a crew could need: 2.5 gallon and 6 gallon powder packs for coolers, single-serve powder sticks from 80 count boxes up to bundles of several thousand, 1 gallon liquid concentrate jugs that each make 6 gallons, bag-in-box syrup for dispensers, and ready-to-drink cans and 12 oz and 20 oz bottles by the case or pallet. Powder and sticks give the lowest cost per serving at crew scale, and ready-to-drink is the grab-and-go option.

How much Gatorade does a crew go through, and how do I buy in bulk?

Each single-serve stick makes one 20 oz bottle, so a simple plan is one to two sticks per worker per hot shift, multiplied by crew size and workdays. Hydration Depot also builds powder stick bundles sized by crew, like 960 sticks for up to 25 employees and 7,680 sticks for up to 100 employees, and 6 gallon powder cases that make 84 gallons each for cooler stations.

Why do work crews reach for Gatorade in the heat?

Two reasons: the formula and the familiarity. The carbohydrate-and-electrolyte blend is built to replace what heavy sweat carries off during hard physical work, which helps crews keep going through a long, hot shift. Just as important, it is a taste and a name workers already know, so they actually drink it instead of leaving it in the cooler. For a safety program, a drink people will reach for on their own is a drink that is doing its job.
